county fair cake

county fair cake

I am home from a whirlwind 36-hour trip to Bellport, NY over the weekend. Dan manned the homefront, while I slipped off to an exhibition about my great-great-grandmother at an historical society in Bellport. I'm still sifting through photographs and trying to digest my weekend. Not to mention the enourmous amount of recovery that seems necessary after a short weekend away.

In the meantime, God must have heard my pleas for relief as cool 70-degree winds are blowing through my windows this morning. This is my kind of weather.

The weather break also meant that I had the motivation to fire up my oven and bake something. Emma, slightly dramatic and upon her first bite into the cake, "I haven't had something homemade of yours in YEARS!"

So while I spend the day recovering, do yourself a favor and revisit this post. There just might be a county fair cake in your future today, too.
